What the hell are they smoking over at Spanish paper Sport?!
The Catalan daily have splashed their Friday edition with a front page that demands attention in Manchester, as it’s claimed that Man United’s Wayne Rooney, Juan Mata and Ander Herrera and Man City player David Silva have all been offered to Barcelona.
We’ll pick apart each player one by one.
Wayne Rooney
No sooner do Sport say that agent’s have dangled Rooney in front of Barcelona, than a slew of reasons why the transfer won’t happen are tabled by the tabloid.
Sport note that Rooney is under contract until 2019, before adding that Wazza’s weight is of serious concern to the Catalans.
Sport claim that Rooney has had to change his game due to his physical condition, saying his “athletic performance is not above suspicion.”
Juan Mata
Although Juan Mata has come good for Louis van Gaal in recent weeks, Sport believe Mata’s “desire to return to La Liga are known”.
The assertion in the paper is that while Mata would love to move to the Camp Nou, Barcelona don’t see the need to sign him.
Ander Herrera
Herrera has arguably been Man United’s star acquisition this season, and Red Devils would be loathed to lose the midfielder to the Catalans.
For Sport, Herrera has been a player on Barca’s radar for some time, however they believe the Catalans would not offer United more than 25 million euros for the midfielder.
Sport also acknowledge that Man United are unlikely to sell Herrera for less than 30 million euros.
David Silva
And finally there is the Man City magician David Silva.
Sport suggest that Man City’s upcoming summer will see big changes at the club, and Silva is now up for sale if a “reasonable” offer comes in for him.
The suggestion is that Barcelona would do a deal with City for Silva as long as they don’t pay more than 30 million euros.
